About The Didi Project
Life for a person with Sickle Cell Disease in Nigeria is marked by inadequate healthcare. Many lack accessible information about the condition, hindering the ability to manage the symptoms effectively. This gap limits potential with preventable consequences so public education is crucial.
The Didi Project seeks to educate young people with sickle cell, caregivers and other interested people on the management, prevention and stigmatisation of sickle cell disorder. We do this by producing educational comic books based on 13-year-old Didi. She Is our fictional character and through her stories, readers get a first-hand look into her life while dealing with the condition. Proceeds collected from this project go into special awareness programs at schools and clinics.
